Defence Equipment
The HSE Advisor is based within our Defence Equipment business area.


Defence equipment stores, maintains, repairs and overhauls military vehicles and equipment so the UK army is able to train and deploy in a moment.

As well as supporting vehicles that are already in service, the team carries out vehicle assembly integration and tests new vehicles.


The role
The difference our new HSE Advisor will make. As a HSE Advisor, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You will manage the HS&E risks and implementing the requirements of company HS&E standards by cooperation and collaboration with operational management teams and site staff across the Defence Equipment Business Unit sites


Day to day, you'll be working with site Managers and operational staff to ensure compliance with current legislation and customer Joint Service Publications and Babcock HS&E polices and processes through site reviews and audits and providing feedback to operations upon how to meet Babcock HSE improvements.

You will also provide expert advice to the contracts and site on how to implement current and future Health, Safety& Environmental legislation, and company policies and standards.

You will review site risk controls and HSE safety arrangements and provide sensible and competent guidance to operations to ensure their HS&E arrangements are fit for purpose.

Lastly review operations and identify opportunities in collaboration with operations to improve Risk controls.

Essential experience

  • Driving license essential
  • Certificate (L3) in Health and Safety / HS&E or equivalent qualification
  • Extensive experience in a HS&E advisor role preferably engineering or highrisk industry.
  • Membership of IOSH or equivalent professional body at Technical or greater grade (e.g., Tech IOSH).
  • Desirable engineering background

SC security clearance required.
