_Permanent work based in Bradford with a forward thinking company_

_Salary £30,000- £42,000 per year DOE_

Are you?

  • Degree qualified, preferably mechanical/electrical engineering or equivalent or
  • NVQ level 3 or City in guilds in mechanical/electrical engineering
  • Experienced working within the port, port crane and mechanical handling sector

The Port Project Engineer role:


  • Provide engineering support for port crane repairs, refurbishment, operation and maintenance.
  • Contribute in the preparation of commercial and technical offers
  • Provide project management.
  • Provide engineering support for mechanical/electrical equipment including spare parts sourcing, refurbishment plans and equipment hire activities.
  • Preparation of work packs/RAMS and other documentation.
  • Project management activities including all technical and commercial aspects of projects.
  • Undertake surveys and project work scopes.
  • Familiarisation with client's and companies HSEQ policies and procedures.
  • Familiarisation with client's and company Safety policy and the Safety Management System.
  • To identify safe and environmentally sound methods of work and systems which identify hazards at each place of work.
  • Plan, organise and document client work processes to deliver the required standard with minimum risk to personnel, plant, materials and the environment.
  • Encourage personnel engaged on project/contract to develop an acceptable safety and environmental culture, which encourages near miss and accident reporting.
  • Part of the job will be to become familiar with additional aspects of running successful site based engineering contracts and in time the following additional duties would become part of the role.
  • Be familiar with relevant legislation, codes of practice, guidance notes and good industry practice.
  • Give company personnel and subcontractors precise instruction in order to implement safe methods of work and predefined communication lines between client and company.
  • To act immediately on any breach of company rules which come to attention and where required report to line manager in relation to those breaches.
  • To be alert to any inadequacies of the effectiveness of the management system and to bring such inadequacies to the attention of line management.
