Summary


This exciting role has been developed to facilitate a strategic phase in MCDT's development and to provide ongoing project and administrative support for the Project Coordinator role.

MCDT requires an enthusiastic, community-minded individual to help drive forward the Minehead Plan for People and Place, as well as other emerging projects and community-based initiatives.

This is a modern, self-managed role that can flex to suit the individual.

It requires well developed digital skills; perfect spelling and grammar; excellent communication skills; ability to update websites and social media; independent motivation and management; and an absolute belief in the value of building communities and delivering social impact projects.


  • Reporting to the Project Coordinator and Board of Directors/Trustees
  • Working closely with the Project Coordinator, stakeholders, wider community and communitybased organisations
  • Managing your own time and resources effectively to meet MCDT and project needs
  • Promoting the Trust and its work through the consistent use of banded communications, media, resources and activities
  • Operating within the Trust's policies and procedures

Key Responsibilities and DutiesProject and Event Management Assistance

  • Assist the Project Coordinator with management and delivery of projects and activities identified within the plan, as well as emerging community projects
  • Support the Project Coordinator in the delivery of key events, such as the Minehead Bay Festival and Minehead Nature Watch events

This will include:

  • Creation of suitable Event Management Plans
  • Creation of suitable and robust Risk Assessments
  • Promotion and marketing of events through offline and digital formats
  • Support in the management and delivery of events at the event

Community Engagement and Evaluation

  • Support Project Coordinator in the delivery of community engagement events and project and activity evaluation work, including:
  • Community drop-in days
  • Steering group meetings and interviews
  • Distribution of community surveys and polls
  • Attendance at community events and meetings

Fundraising

  • Work with the Project Coordinator to identify funding opportunities and assist the Project Coordinator with the development of appropriate funding bids
  • Work with the Project Coordinator to identify and develop fundraising opportunities to further MCDT's financial sustainability strategies

Communication

  • Update and maintain MCDT's website use of Weebly
  • Create and distribute relevant newsletters use of Mailchimp
  • Create regular, fresh social media news to update and engage the community in our work
  • Design and create promotional materials for MCDT, for example event flyers and posters

Administration

  • Contribution to project progress reports for funders and MCDT's board of trustees
  • Assist with the creation, review and updating of charity policies and procedures
  • Support Project Coordinator with book keeping and financial management

Skills and Experience

  • Knowledge and experience in community engagement and development
  • Knowledge and experience in project delivery
  • Competent in the use of Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Weebly, Mailchimp, Canva
  • Fluent on social media platforms
  • Facebook, Instagram (Meta) and LinkedIn

Notes
Contract: 2-year fixed term, part time 0.6 FTE. The contract is for an initial term of 2 years with the opportunity to extend dependent upon ongoing funding.


Salary:
£26,500 pa pro rata

Hours: 22.5 hours per week

Our expectation is that hours are managed throughout the working week to meet the operational needs of the Trust and the personal needs of the post-holder.
