Description

The post holder will work within the City & Hackney Mental Health Support in Schools team, which is part of the wider Specialist CAMHS.

This team has a specific focus on early intervention and prevention within the school context involving both whole school and individual approaches.

Your remit will be to build on the ongoing service evaluation of the team.

In addition, there will be opportunities to participate in clinical work and work alongside Education Mental Health Practitioners and other experienced clinicians.

Your colleagues will welcome your involvement in the rich variety of their work, which comprises a range of universal workshops and groups as well as group, family and individual interventions with the diverse client base in City and Hackney.

You will have good research and service evaluation skills, including knowledge and experience of Excel and SPSS.

  • Audit, service evaluation and quality improvement projects
  • Participate in appropriate clinical work in schools with children and their families, in particular group work, under the supervision of qualified staff.
  • Manage own caseload supported through clinical supervision.
  • Help children and young people in schools who present with more severe problems to rapidly access more specialist services.
  • Work with and within educational environments to contribute to the development of whole school approaches and to afford better access to specialist mental health services
  • Keep clinical records of all contacts, visits and interventions, write letters and contribute to reports as necessary
  • Work in partnership with clients and colleagues, maintaining respect for differing opinions and discussing all options for working together effectively.
  • Communicate across language and cultural barriers, remaining mindful of issues of difference and responding to those appropriately within clinical contexts
  • Sustain high levels of concentration during sessions to sustain continual active processing and analysis of the meaning of clients and colleague's communication, behaviours and responses, particularly when working via an interpreter.
