Bowman ward is a twelve bedded male Low Secure Unit in Bodmin hospital, Cornwall.


We strive to provide a creative and holistic service for men who are experiencing severe and enduring mental health problems.

These men require time and intensive support to aid their recovery within a provision of low security. These may have a forensic history or been in contact with the criminal justice system.

We value co-production and patient voice and promote staff to drive these areas forward to evolve our service.

We are committed to developing our staff and provide a full Corporate Curriculum training programme which will support your learning and development into the future.


We are commissioned as part of the South West Provider Collaborative so work closely with all secure services within region to share learning and enhance patient secure care pathways.


We are accredited by the Royal College of Psychiatry QNFMS and strive to drive forward quality improvement initiatives and service development opportunities.

As a staff nurse we promote your active involvement and create opportunities to specialise within this field.


To Support the delivery of care needs by carrying out assigned tasks involving direct care under the supervision of a registered nurse.


  • To contribute to the evaluation of programmes of care by reporting to the clinical supervisor.
  • As part of a team, provide high quality mental health care to the service users
  • To promote recovery.
  • To do all the above in a manner that maintains safety for all.
  • To assist in service and good practice developments
