Our client are an established, expanding manufacturing business currently looking to recruit a Group Purchasing Manager to join their team.

Segdefield based, however travel to the companies West Yorkshire site may be required around 1-2 times per month. All travel expanses will be covered and a company pool car can be used if needed.


Overall Purpose:


  • Purchase both direct goods and materials (polymers, printed materials, packaging) and indirect goods and services to ensure that the company operational needs are met, considering price, quality and delivery and to ensure continuity of supply.
  • To ensure effective management of spend and stocks on both sites.

Key Duties:


  • Develop, lead, formalise and execute purchasing strategies and policy in line with organisation goals.
  • Achieve the best value for money, level of service and quality standards when dealing with vendors and suppliers.
  • Manage relationships with existing suppliers and select and develop new suppliers.
  • Perform value analysis, and benchmarking.
  • Forecast price and market trends and ensure timing of purchases is optimised.
  • Assess, manage and mitigate supply chain risks.
  • Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of material demand and determine quantity and timing of deliveries in order to maximise both material availability and working capital.
  • Make sure that vendors and suppliers meet required standards, such as BRC-GS.
  • Ensure that all procurement activity is conducted ethically and sustainably and that the supply chain is free of slavery and corruption in line with company policies.
  • Review contracts with suppliers and vendors on behalf of the organisation.
  • Look for ways to improve procurement processes, making them more efficient and transparent.
  • To ensure good communication and collaboration with all functional areas across the sites.
  • Provide management reports and key performance data and monitor cost savings and supplier performance.
  • Manage and coach the Supply Chain Assistant.

The Package:

- £40,000 - £42,000 per annum depending on experience.

  • Day shift hours, monfri.
  • Occasional travel to West Yorkshire site, travel expenses covered.
