The Role


To provide facilities support and deliver a full house-keeping service, ensuring that all resident's furniture and household requirements are met through efficient sorting, sourcing and allocation of items.

This role also includes cleaning duties; stock rotation of store cupboards and maintenance of inventories, including the ordering of stock.


Aspects of the role will include:

  • At the beginning of each shift, be aware of activities/issues on site by liaising with the relevant staff/managers.
  • Carry out cleaning duties in communal areas, ensuring high standards at all times.
  • Implement identified tasks from weekly site/property review into a timetable of tasks for completion on a weekly basis.
  • Provide guidance to volunteers who provide support with donation sorting and allocation of items.
  • Allocate furniture/household items required across the charity and sort accordingly.
  • Maintain stocks of cleaning materials, hygiene supplies bedding, curtains and kitchen goods and ensure stock rotation of store cupboards and onsite shop.
  • Prepare rooms and properties for new residents and ensure the inventories reflect the furniture and household goods provided.
  • Provide support with arrangements for events, ensuring any tasks necessary are planned for.
  • Support residents to encourage a sense of pride in the home and safe and adequate standards of hygiene. Encourage awareness of the importance of recycling household waste and how this is done.
  • Check the contents of the First Aid boxes monthly and maintain a stock of First Aid Materials.
  • Work with facilities colleague(s) to carry out 6 monthly health and safety property checks and compile a snagging list.
  • Work with facilities colleague(s) as required to ensure that landlord health and safety checks are carried out when required.
  • Agree a remedial property vacate plan with residents, one month prior to move on.
  • Act as Fire Warden and First Aider, having received appropriate training.
  • Communicate any Safeguarding issues to the responsible officer in accordance with the established procedure.
