Clinical Coder

Are you a qualified Clinical Coder who has a keen eye for detail with the ability to work well under pressure? - If so we may have the perfect role for you.
The Scope of the Role
The role is to analyse, interpret and extract relevant information which will including complex conditions and treatments and to code patient's clinical case notes using nationally agreed Classifications and Codes.
- You will accurately analyse, extract and interpret clinical data for coding inpatient, Day cases, Outpatient visits and waiting list data across all specialities using ICD10 and OPCS classifications and input the data onto the patient administration system.
- To use online uncoded reports to identify workload status and to take appropriate action to deal with uncoded episodes.
- You will use of the pathology system for accessing clinical information to clarify diagnosis for coding purposes.
- Also insuring case notes and other patient documentation are received and dealt with expediently, prioritising the coding of notes as appropriate and to provide relevant information needed for research, audit and commissioning to support decision making by clinicians, management and the finance department.
- Addition to that you will assist with the investigation and correction of coded clinical data rejected or queried by recipient information systems and to participate in ongoing clinical coding training to meet national standards.
About You:
Who we're looking for
- Experience of coding in these areas: Orthopaedics, General Surgery, Gynaecology, Urology, Ophthalmology, Vascular, Pain clinic, Oral and ENT
- Experience in a health records or healthcare environment
- Someone with 2 years relevant Medical Coding experience and ideally knowledge
ICD10 and OPCS 4 classifications.**: - someone who has excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to work under pressure.
- Just as important though is your flexibility, belief in teamwork and your ability to use your initiative, follow instructions and prioritise a busy workload
- The ability to work on your own and as part of a team.
