Hours:
Full Time, 37.5 hours per week
This is an exciting role to support and reach out to young people aged who have experienced or been affected by gender-based violence, female genital mutilation, sexual, financial and emotional abuse, forced marriage and 'honour'-based violence from the point of crisis, informing them of the full range of civil, criminal and practical options, to help ensure their short-term and long-term safety, reduce risk, enable them to access community support services and achieve their life goals.
Responsibilities
- Providing nonjudgmental onetoone emotional and practical support to yearolds survivors of genderbased violence. This will include conducting key work sessions on a regular basis and keeping accurate casework records up to date.
- Establishing the risks to, and the needs of, yearold survivors of gender
- Developing individual support and risk management plans, including risk assessments, safety planning, and needs assessments to address the risk of harm to yearold survivors of genderbased violence.
- Ensuring that any issues in relation to safeguarding children or vulnerable adults are brought to the immediate attention of the Gaia Centre Service Manager, or if unavailable another manager.
- Assisting yearold to access relevant community services such as counselling, health, legal, training, education, volunteering and employment services.
- Supporting yearold girls who have experienced or may be at risk of genderbased violence within the context of gang violence and child sexual exploitation.
- Working in partnership with other agencies and to advocate for survivors to ensure their needs are met.
- Delivering presentations and informal training to external agencies to increase understanding of and improve responses to genderbased violence.
Essential Skills or Experience
- Good standard of general education.
- A recognized social work/housing/legal counselling or other relevant qualification. (Desirable)
- SafeLives qualification. (Desirable)
