The Role


We are looking for an Operations Administrator to join our small, friendly Operations team in the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Physics.

The team plays a critical role in supporting all aspects of the school's business.


Team working is a vital component of this role and we are looking for people with both the passion and experience to contribute proactively to the work of the team.


As well as being supported by an operations Manager you will also be part of a wider network of operations colleagues and have access to many different online and face to face learning and development opportunities, which we encourage you to undertake.


The role is varied and interesting and you will have the opportunity to work with many stakeholders from within the school, as well as external partners.

On a day-to-day basis part of your role will be assisting with internal and external communications, keeping both internal and external webpages up to date to give information and celebrate our success stories.

This means we are looking for someone with great communication skills and attention to detail.


The work will also involve supporting our research and Business Innovation and Skills portfolios within the school, organising meetings, conferences and events for both internal and external stakeholders, particularly those who we work with in our bespoke business engagement unit, Nu Solve.

Therefore, we are particularly keen to hear from people who have a proven track record in customer service along with expertise in planning and organising to meet deadlines.

The role is full time for 37 hours per week and offered on an open-ended basis. We are currently working with a blended approach of 3 days on campus and two at home. This is managed on a rota basis to provide cover for our welcoming reception area. Staff may be required to come into the office on additional days to support business critical activities.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Good IT skills with experience of Microsoft suite of programmes
  • An excellent communicator both verbally and in writing with the ability to tailor messages to the appropriate audiences.

  • Ability to work calmly under pressure and to manage competing deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience of administrative duties, including but not limited to general meeting support, diary management, dealing with enquiries.
  • Ability to train/develop and manage other staff.

Qualifications:


  • Maths and English at GCSE Level 4 or equivalent
  • OR relevant experience in an administrative or customer service
