The SEMH Classroom Assistant Role:


As an SEMH Classroom Assistant, you will be supporting teaching and learning in the classroom, assisting teaching staff with managing challenging behaviour and supporting wellbeing.

You will also work with children in a 1:1 capacity and in small groups, providingpastoral and wellbeing assistance as well as interventions regarding behaviour.

You will also be expected to take part in wider-school activities, such as trips, which make learning more engaging and fun.


The SEMH Classroom Assistant:


To be eligible for this SEMH Classroom Assistant position, it is important that you have a clear understanding of the additional needs of the pupils you are working with, which include SEMH needs, challenging behaviour, and complex learning needs.

You shouldhold a Level 3 SEMH Classroom Assistant qualification and have extensive experience working in a Pupil Referral Unit or a similar environment.


The School:


This Pupil Referral Unit located in Sandwell caters for KS3 and KS4 pupils who have faced barriers to their education resulting in permanent exclusion from their mainstream setting.
