Reports To:
Head House Keeper and Home manager.


16.5 Hours - 3 Shifts a week alternative weekends.

Key Task

  • At all times to maintain effective communication and liaison with the Crown Care Group home manager, deputy manager, registered nurse and senior carer to ensure the smooth, safe, effective, responsive and cleaning operation of the home.
  • To promote and display a professional image commensurate with the high standards of the Crown Care Group.
  • To take responsibility for the high standards of cleanliness across all areas of the home.
  • In conjunction with the wider care team to adhere to the home's philosophies and goals and statement of purpose.

Compliance

  • To comply with the Health and Social Care (Safety and Quality) Act 2015, including NICE guidelines, fire safety regulations, COSHH regulations, RIDDOR, infection control, first aid, moving and handling regulations and regulatory requirements for medical equipment and devices.
  • All employees of the Crown Care Group are required to respect the confidentiality of all matters relating to the business of the home and in relation to the service users and their family and friends. Employees must therefore respect the requirements of the Data Protection Act 199
  • Employees must ensure they are fully aware of their responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and ensure that safe working practices are followed at all times.
  • To fully comply with all Crown Care policies and procedures.
  • At all times to uphold and promote the privacy, dignity, independence, safety and welfare of all services users and your own conduct in accordance with the Crown Care Group's high expectations.
  • To ensure the standards of the Care Quality Commission and Local Authority Contracts specifications and Safeguarding regulations and principles are upheld.
  • To ensure Quality Assurance documentation is completed as per the Crown Care quality framework audit tool.
  • To take responsibility for the maintenance of your own professional knowledge and to utilise this knowledge within the scope of your role.
  • To display a professional attitude and encourage professional relationships with all grades of staff.

COSHH

  • To ensure all cleaning products are locked away when not in use in the designated COSHH area.
  • To ensure cleaning products are not level unattended at any time. A failure to adhere to this requirement will be considered to be an act of gross misconduct.
  • To ensure that you are aware of the contents of the housekeeping file at all times. It is your responsibility to make yourself familiar with the file at all times.
  • To make yourself familiar with product information, dilutions and rotas and thereafter ensure any dilutions are made to the manufacturer's specification.
  • To immediately report any splashes to the person in charge, making a note of the product involved. Thereafter it is your responsibility to ensure an accident report is completed in accordance with COSHH guidelines.
  • To ensure personal protective clothing is worn at all times when in contact with cleaning products. This ensures the prevention of irritation and absorption into the skin.
  • To ensure products are stored in marked containers at all times. Should you become aware that products have been stored in an unmarked container such breach should be reported to the person in charge.
  • To ensure different products are mixed in separate containers to avoid crosscontamination.
  • To ensure any materials which require soaking are not left unattended.
  • To ensure fire doors are kept closed at all times. The propping open of fire doors is a direct contravention of company policy and any such action would be deemed to be an act of gross misconduct.
  • To ensure all work materials are cleaned at the end of shift. Mops should be stored with the head upward to enable drying. In addition, cloths should be disposed of at the end of each shift, materials must be left to dry and the mop bucket should be emptied, cleaned and dried after use.

Housekeeping / Hazards

  • To be aware of any potential hazards
  • To ensure the use of wet floor signs are in place.
  • To ensure electrical cables are stored away thereby preventing a trip hazard.
  • To be aware of the colour coding systems for the relevant cleaning materials.
  • To be aware of the Home's standards for cleanliness and ensure these are met on a daily basis. A failure to meet the Home's standards could lead to disciplinary action being taken.
  • To report any faults/defects to the Head Housekeeper or the person in charge immediately.
