The Royal Thames Yacht Club Ltd has a diverse and global membership with broad yachting base.

Founded in 1775, we are one of the oldest operating yacht club in the world as well as being the oldest royal yacht club.

The Club runs and competes in a full calendar of domestic and international yacht racing and as well as organising cruising rallies across the world.

The Royal Thames Yacht Club owns two fleets of boats for the use by our members.

In 2025, the Club will celebrate its 250th anniversary, this is a particularly important time for the Club and will see the club host a year of special events.


Our London Clubhouse provides a welcoming environment in the heart of Knightsbridge for members, guests, and reciprocal clubs with two restaurants, accommodation, private dining, and events for both members and the wider public.

The Club is organised as a company limited by guarantee. The Club's General Committee is the Board of Directors. The General Committee has several subcommittees, one of which is the House and Finance Committee. The Head of Finance and Operations supports and acts as secretary to this Committee.


Role Description


Reporting to the Chief Executive you will be part of a small executive team charged with the day-to-day management of the Club.

This is a full-time, on-site role for a Head of Finance and Operations at the Royal Thames Yacht Club Limited located in Knightsbridge.

The Head of Finance and Operations will be responsible for overseeing all financial and operational aspects of the organization.

They will manage the finance team, ensure financial stability and compliance, develop and implement financial strategies, analyse financial data, and provide reports and recommendations to the management team.

The role will also involve managing and optimizing operational processes, monitoring performance, and implementing improvements to drive efficiency and effectiveness.

This role is responsible for the support and progress management of the club apprentices, currently one in Finance and one in Food and Beverage.


Qualifications

  • Proven experience in financial management and operations leadership in an SME
  • Indepth knowledge of accounting principles and financial analysis
  • Strong understanding of operational processes and performance metrics
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to develop and implement financial strategies
  • High attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in financial management software and tools
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field
  • Relevant professional qualified (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
  • Experience in the yacht club industry or hospitality sector is desirable

Person Specification

  • Outstanding interpersonal and team management / leadership skills
  • A strong networker, with relationship management experience across seniority levels and sectors
  • Strong presentation skills, with prior experience delivering detailed information to a broad audience
  • Experience of balancing changing priorities and responding to delivery needs
  • Proactive approach to problem solving
  • Ability to work autonomously and also have a strong team focus and ethic
  • Good working knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, CRM systems
  • Target driven, with excellent organisation and time management skills to meet deadlines and monthly / quarterly KPIs

Salary:
£70,000.00-£90,000.00 per year
