Venator is currently recruiting for a Mechanical Technician to join the ICON Maintenance team, Greatham site.
The overall purpose of the role is to minimise plant downtime by monitoring the equipment performance and responding to failures by fault finding to determine the repair method and complete the required work.
Job responsibilities include:
- Act as the first technical point of contact for plant issues, investigating faults in response to notifications, assessing issues to be rectified immediately or scheduled into planned maintenance.
- Take the lead in managing the site response to all mechanical equipment breakdowns, coordinating with the relevant Shift Manager and calling out and managing additional engineering personnel as required to minimise plant downtime.
- Monitor asset 'health', identifying, rectifying and reporting defects before they become breakdowns and impact on site production capability.
- Provide mechanical technical insight and guidance to the production team during critical production periods including startups and major disturbances.
- Coach and deliver training for mechanical technicians and contract personnel to improve work quality, adhering to "right first time" concept.
- Utilise various condition monitoring techniques to interact with the plant to aid fault diagnosis i.e. basic vibration monitoring, thermography, etc. and review the CBM report.
- Present information comprehensively, accurately and legibly via electronic logs, inputting data into SAP and by giving and receiving detailed and accurate handovers.
- Provide flexible cover for other technicians as and when required and act as section owner in plant shutdowns and lead multidiscipline teams as and when required.

- Job-Related work experience, Skills/
Knowledge Requirements:
_- Preferably educated to HNC level or equivalent, as well as completion of time served apprenticeship.- At least 5 years' experience working in a high hazard chemical production environment.
