Salary:
£24,000 - £26,000 Dependent on experience.


Job type:
Full Time - Permanent. 35 hours per week, excluding lunch break.


Background:

Your Acton BID is a Business Improvement District (BID) with 620 businesses in the BID area. The businesses are a mixture of retailers from different sectors and industrial businesses. The organisation was first established in 2018 and was successful in the 1
st
renewal ballot in 2023 for other 5 years.


The Vision:


To support and promote local businesses to local people by providing, information and awareness of our day and night-time economy and our diverse metropolitan culture.


Role Description:


The Business Support Officer's role is to liaise and build relationships with businesses in the Business Improvement District (BID) area.


The objective is to ensure all BID levy-paying businesses know the BID's benefits and who to contact if they have concerns.


The business support officer will work alongside the BID manager and My Local Bobby team to support BID businesses, engage the consumer, increase footfall, and initiate fun and digital chatter to encourage loyalty for our diverse and ever-changing High Street and Industrial Estate.


Responsibilities:


  • Visit Businesses regularly to update them on BID matters, benefits, and projects.
  • Collect the contact information of daytoday business managers, area managers,
marketing departments and head office.

  • Collect offers from businesses and post them on the website
  • Collects job vacancies and post on the website
  • Collect event and activity information and post on the website.
  • Ensure we are following all BID businesses on social media, comment and support
their activities.

  • Provide creative input and suggestions for projects and events that can enhance
the town's perception and encourages footfall.

  • Work with the BID Manager, team members and the Board to deliver the projects outlined in the business plan
  • Follow up on daytoday issues highlighted by the MLB rangers or the BID's

  • Collect gossip and news for use in the newsletter and on the website.
  • Take photos of businesses, great looking shop windows, planters in bloom.
  • Learn how to use the website and database and resize photos.
read and create spreadsheets.

Skills:

  • Able to inspire and attract business member involvement in the BID and the services and projects the BID offers;
  • Willingness to undertake other tasks to support the BID Management Team;
  • Excellent communication skills; both written and verbal;
  • Able to walk for a long period of time.
  • The ability to display tact, diplomacy with good negotiation and persuasion skills as required;

Experience:


  • Experience of building relationships with key stakeholders and within the community; Experience of handling challenging situations;
  • Demonstrable experience of working on multiple projects and activities, maintaining high levels of good customer service and client relationships when under pressure;
  • Demonstrable experience of monitoring and evaluating progress of projects and services; Involvement with Crisis management planning.

Knowledge:


  • Good working knowledge of the local area (desirable);
  • An understanding of Business Improvement Districts and their operation;
  • To have an understanding of the diversity and culture within the local area.
