We are assisting our client, a well-established electronics manufacturer, in recruiting an Electronics Engineer to join their growing engineering team in Swindon.


Your Role:


Coordinating with the development, quality, manufacturing and commercial functions of the business you will ensure that production test equipment is fully developed, fit for purpose and clearly documented, translating product requirements and specificationsinto fully function production ready test fixtures that meet the requirements of both internal and external customers.


You will manage your own workload to complete diagnostic, laboratory test and implementation activities within timescales required, monitoring and providing feedback on your progress whilst being prepared to proactively communicate exceptions to these timescalesand related project plans if necessary.


Your Goal:


  • To understand project and production technical requirements in conjunction with both our internal and external customers.
  • To undertake the detailed electronic and electromechanical design activities required to translate these in to effective production test equipment.
  • To ensure that robust, reliable technical solutions are produced, implemented, demonstrated as fit for purpose, delivered and maintained in a designformanufacture environment.

Your Objectives:


  • To work collaboratively with the technical teams to develop hardware solutions, performing relevant calculations, associated simulations and tests to deliver robust, innovative test equipment.
  • To work collaboratively with the technical teams to ensure analogue and digital electronic circuits deliver robust, innovative technical solutions with sound theoretical basis.
  • To ensure that designs meet EMC and LVD requirements, carrying out relevant development, testing and debugging.
  • To understand product performance principles, identifying key specification issues and performance criteria in order to develop, demonstrate and carry out robust product functionality tests.
  • To undertake air performance, vibration, acoustic noise and EMC testing.
  • To construct and evaluate test samples in conjunction with the technical teams.
  • To understand and comply with the requirements of ISO 5801 for air performance testing.
  • To provide detailed laboratory reports identifying product performance, operation and key functional information in accordance with the standards established by the business.

Skills and Knowledge:


  • Minimum 2:1 relevant Honours Degree qualification with electronic circuit design experience.
  • Schematic capture, PCB layout and circuit testing for equipment design, EMC and LVD.
  • Handson design, testing, fault finding and debugging of SMPS, power electronics, control algorithms and associated analogue / digital electronic hardware in a production test environment.
  • Embedded 'C' and assembler code development and maintenance using related tool chains.
  • Practical and technical knowledge of electromechanical principles, production and laboratory disciplines.
  • Proven ability to work to deadlines in an industrial environment.
  • Experience of a handson approach to test equipment realisation and assembly.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office tools.
  • Ability to drive and affect project delivery.
  • Confident communication skills across a range of media.
  • Organised, confident, selfmotivated and capable of multitasking.
