Puffin Produce Ltd are the largest supplier of Welsh produce in Wales, supplying a wide variety of potatoes and seasonal vegetables to multiple major retailers and wholesalers.

Our organisation hold an excellent reputation as a progressive and developing company within their field and we are currently looking to expand our existing Health and Safety team.


As Health and Safety Advisor, you will monitor, review and champion Health and Safety processes and policies in order to protect our staff, ensure we are legally compliant and engage staff in promoting a safety culture.

Work towards continuous improvement of processes, identify and rectify safety issues, advise the business and site management on best practice for safety.

You should demonstrate professional competence and a character that inspires trust and promotes inclusion and diversity at all levels.

Reporting directly into the Health & Safety Manager, this role is ideal for a hands-on Health and Safety professional looking to make a real difference in a forward moving and fast paced food manufacturing business.


Key responsibilities

  • Be a focal point of contact in matters related to health and safety.
  • Ensure that all Health & Safety policies, procedures, rules and regulations are adhered to regularly reviewed, updated and communicated as required.
  • Ensure the Company meets its statutory obligations in all areas pertaining to health, safety and welfare at work, including statutory training and reporting.
  • Ensure full and accurate health and safety and training records are maintained.
  • Ensure the completion and regular review of risk assessments for all work equipment and operations for both staff & contractors.
  • Ensure that all accidents are documented, investigated and recommended improvements implemented.
  • Conduct health and safety audits and onsite inspections to identify workplace hazards and suggesting corrective actions.
  • Challenge any unsafe acts and conditions with the aim of maintaining a safe place of work.
  • Be a champion of safe behaviours and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure that all agreed health and safety action points are completed within deadlines.
  • Keep up to date with all aspects of relevant health, safety & welfare at work legislation and communicate relevant changes to the business.
  • Provide regular reports to the Directors/Senior Management Team on relevant health and safety activities.
  • Participate in relevant meetings and report on relevant health & safety matters as required.
  • Manage the relationship with all maintenance contractors.
  • Organise and lead staff engagement activities to promote safe practice and a safe working culture.
  • Monitoring to ensuring safety controls and measures work with both the business priorities and operational requirements.
  • General administration tasks related to the health and safety.
  • Any other reasonable duties which may be required by management from time to time to fulfil role.

  • Passionate about health and safety/food safety

Qualifications and experience

  • Minimum NEBOSH (General Certificate) qualified or equivalent higher accreditation.
  • Knowledge of CDM Regulations.
  • Knowledge of applicable Legislation
  • COSHH, Legionella


  • Food Safety qualification

  • Preferred but not essential.

£35,000.00 per year
