An opportunity is available for a road maintenance trainer/assessor to join a top employer in the Tayside and Angus area
Job Purpose

To assist the Safety and Training Manager provide an effective training and development service which meets the organisation's needs and corporate objectives and promotes a positive working environment which supports both internal and external learners.

Responsibilities:


  • Ensure that Safe Working Practices are adhered to, in accordance with Health and Safety Legislation and Company Occupational Health and Safety Policy.
  • Demonstrate and exemplify positive behaviours and attitudes that reflect companyvalues and vision through cooperative and partnership working with internal colleagues and all external clients, stakeholders and other interested parties.
  • Promote diversity and ensure equality of access and treatment in employment and service delivery.
  • In conjunction with the Safety and Training Manager internally promote the safety and training functions, using all forms of appropriate communication and externally promote the training services to generate income.
  • Carry out formal training and assessment for both internal and external customers in accordance with Awarding Bodies' criteria.
  • Prepare, organise, plan and deliver practical skills and vocationally based training courses, including the preparation of training aids and facilities. Where appropriate base learning events on national occupational standards
  • Amend and revise learning programmes as necessary in order to adapt to changes occurring in the work environment.
  • Plan and schedule learning events to ensure assessments are carried out in a timely and efficient way.
  • Undertake the necessary administration associated with courses and assessments, including portfolio development, maintaining course registers, enrolment forms and marking of assessment papers.
  • Evaluate and monitor the effectiveness of each learning event, ensuring that training investment can be measured in terms of individual performance outputs.
  • Provide a safe training and assessment environment ensuring compliance with Awarding Bodies' criteria, appropriate legislation and safety policy.
  • Liaise with other external organisations on developments in training and development.
  • In conjunction with the Safety and Training Manager monitor health and safety performance and undertake accident investigations as required by the Safety and Training Manager.

Essential Experience/Qualifications:


Experience within the highways industry including light, mobile and specialist road maintenance plant and machinery - in either a supervisory or trainer/assessor role.

Well developed communication and writing skills
Plant Qualifications/Skills Card
SVQ Level 3 Qualification
CSCS Card
Full clean UK driving licence with LGV entitlement

Salary/Benefits:

  • Salary between £34,000 to £36,500 depending on experience
