Job description

Looking for your next challenge?

As one of 2 Ancillary Officers you will be responsible for assisting the whole Homelessness Team depending on where pressures are within the team at the time.

This would start from the Triage Team in receiving all new approaches to the Homelessness Service from applicants and other services; to self-managing a caseload in the Prevention Team of clients who are threatened with homelessness and trying to identify reasonable steps to prevent homelessness; through to a Relief Team in dealing with a case load who are imminently homeless and to identify steps which proactively help the client secure temporary/ or long

Do you have excellent investigative skills?

Your role will be to gather information relevant to your client's housing situation, record it, and determine next steps to secure accommodation which you will help the client to prevent their homelessness.

Using your initiative, you will have the opportunity to resolve the case where possible, liaising with landlords and partner agencies.

We are looking for someone who can understand the best way to communicate with different customers and quickly decide on the next steps in their housing assistance.

Do you revel in managing pressure situation and demands from customers?
We are looking for you to make quick wins where you can and maximise your time with clients.

This is a demanding role, and you will be the first port of call for many of our customers. It is important you can comfortably juggle competing demands and priorities.

Do you have the passion and dedication to provide help to homeless clients?

What's in it for you:

  • Hybrid working
days annual leave (plus an additional 5 days after 5 years' continuous local government service)

  • Local Government Pension Scheme (defined benefits)
  • Onsite parking
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Wide range of employee discounts at high street retailers, including supermarkets, stores, and restaurants
  • A Cycle to Work scheme which could save you around 40% on cycles and accessories

Whilst we offer hybrid working opportunities there will be the requirement to attend our head office in Lyndhurst each week.
