Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Review Officer to join a public sector organisation based in East London.

Key duties:

At the direction of the Team Manager Legal, to act as the council's representative in any subsequent court challenge to review decisions or in any litigation around the conduct of the review, including that which involves any decisions not to conduct a review
To ensure customers review, either directly or through referral to relevant teams/agencies, appropriate advice on their options
To ensure that all enquiries and cases are progressed speedily and efficiently, that all set targets are achieved and to minimise the risk of successful legal challenge on decisions relating to the allocation of accommodation to homeless households
To keep abreast of changes to homelessness and related legislation

Knowledge:

A detailed knowledge of part VII of the Housing Act 1996 as amended by the Homelessness Act 2002, Regulations and Statutory Instruments relating to homelessness, and the Homelessness Code of Guidance 2006, and of the Localism Act 2011 as they relate to the allocation of accommodation to homeless households
A detailed knowledge of the Regulations pertaining to the conduct of s202 reviews
A detailed knowledge of the statutory instruments, legislation, guidance and caselaw, relating to the allocation of accommodation to homeless households

The role is paying £15.70 per hour PAYE or £20.23 per hour Umbrella.
