About the Team:
The Digital Directorate delivers cross-cutting digital components and services which support delivery across CDP. This aims to achieve a shared vision of a modern, digital and collaborative organization.


Role Purpose:

The Product Owner - Data Platform & Products develops the vision of what they ultimately want to achieve through the use of data and will be responsible for evaluating work generated by the Data Science team.

During evaluations, the product owner will match and prioritize the features and functionality of the product to obtain maximum performance to the benefit of the end user.


Accountabilities:


As a Product Owner you will be responsible for the execution of the data squads within the digital division, leading the transition to a data-centric organization.

You will work closely with software / data engineers, QAs, designers within your squad as well as a with a wide group of stakeholders across the organization.


Direct Reports and Main Stakeholders (internal and external):

  • Build effective relationships with the ELT, SMT and partners, to build effective relationships, represent the function, and to provide expert advice and guidance on sensitive and highly complex issues.
  • Ability to deal with confidential, challenging and highly sensitive issues / situations, which involve significant negotiation, persuasion and influencing skills. Manage relationships with customers / delivery partners / contractors.
  • Deal with people at all levels confidently, sensitively and diplomatically. Interaction with others and the ability to successfully influence, negotiate and motivate are fundamental to the role. The ability to set and create the right working climate is critical to the success of the role.
  • Consult with stakeholders to identify requirements. Lead partnership working with internal and external services / organizations. Chair internal / external working groups. Influence their decisions.

Examples of Tasks/Activities associated with the Role

  • Lead the endtoend development, maintenance and optimization of the core data platform and products (e.g. portals, dashboard) for internal and external use
  • Manage entire data platform and data products life cycle journey and feature design, roadmap build, delivery
  • Identify and realize opportunities to maximize value of data through design and delivery of data products that meet user needs
  • Develop a data platform that empowers consumers (e.g. analytics experts, business users) by providing a flexible, accessible, costefficient, and centralized data hub, with high levels of data quality (e.g. accuracy, completeness, reliability)
  • Ensure the data platform adheres to best practices in terms of governance, performance, stability, security, regulatory compliance
  • Define objectives and key results (OKRs) in collaboration with Product leadership and ensure alignment with overall company mission
  • Work with crossfunctional squad(s) of analytics experts, software/data/QA engineers, and designers to deliver the data platform and products
  • Define and prioritize product backlog and oversee daytoday squad delivery (e.g. backlog grooming, story and acceptance criteria definition)
  • Monitor user feedback and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement based on user needs
  • Stay abreast of industry trends in environment research and datarelated technology
  • Own, promote and safeguard the fulfillment of agile and scrum methodologies and ceremonies

Key Skills/Abilities and Behaviours required for the Role:

  • Proven track record in an end-to-end Product role (conception to launch) building and managing data products/platforms
  • Experienced working closely with squads of software and data engineers, plus designers and QA
  • Knowledge of data platform architecture, data models, data ingestion, processing, sharing, analytics, governance, infrastructure
  • Familiarity with cloudbased technologies and platforms for scalable data management (ideally Azure ecosystem)
  • Deep knowledge and experience of using a range of Agile and Lean tools and techniques
  • Analytical mindset, ability to interpret and analyze data, problem solve, and generate actionable insights
  • Exceptional communication skills and relationshipbuilding abilities, with client centric approach
  • Experience working with charities, NGOs, or similar organizations preferred
  • Knowledge, interest, and passion for the environmental and / or sustainability space will be an advantage
