Description

Does commercial research and development for hatchery-based restorative aquaculture excite you? At Marine Biotech our vision is to develop new aquaculture businesses that ultimately have a positive impact on the natural world by creating the technology that restorative aquaculture was built on.

Marine Biotech achieves this by marrying science with commercial know-how and is constantly exploring and carrying out new and cutting-edge ways of producing shellfish more effectively, reliably and cost efficiently.

Marine Biotech is currently seeking the role of
Technical Officer to join our team. This position is a hands-on role that will be responsible for assisting the Marine Biotech team to achieve success.

This can include but not limited to; micro-algae production and scale-up including operation of 1,250L photobioreactors and 500L algal bag systems, the general day-to-day husbandry of shellfish, larval rearing, systems construction and spat servicing and maintenance.

Specialisation in one or across multiple related areas will occur after three months.

The incumbent will work independently to meet daily, weekly, and monthly production and research goals, under the guidance of the hatchery manager at our facility in Orkney, Scotland.

  • Have a keen interest in aquaculture, especially in hatchery operations
