  • Job descriptionThe Academy Council of St Mary's Catholic Primary Academy wish to appoint a caring, reliable, calm, positive and skilled person to provide support for a child with additional needs who will be starting school in Reception. In this role, you will use a creative and impactful approach, follow the specific direction of the class teacher and work effectively with the SENDCo to improve access to learning for pupils, whilst enhancing their educational progress, personal experience and character development.

We need you to be able to:

  • support this child on an academic level.
- help them to move around the school safely and to maintain an appropriate focus on their learning tasks in and out of the classroom.
- work closely with the teacher and other support staff to give this child and all their peers the best quality provision we can.

  • Liaise and communicate with the parent of this child on a regular basis to ensure their care is consistent and appropriate.
- meet the personal and physical needs of pupils such as feeding, toileting and assisting with mobility whilst encouraging their independence.

  • The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff to share this commitment. Applicants to posts that are exempted from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act will require a DBS (formerly CRB) from the Disclosure and Barring Service before the appointment is confirmed._
