Here at Randstad we are dedicated to providing excellent standards of support to students; we are looking for reliable, experienced, skilled tutors who want to make a positive impact on the learning of students within higher education, so that they can go on to become independent and successful learners.

We are looking for Study Skills tutor in Greater Manchester.

You will be working with students at HE institutions across this area to help empower our students to be successful in their academic learning, by providing them with strategies they can use both in and outside the classroom.


Responsibilities:

As a Study skills tutor you will be expected to:

  • Provide tailored one-to-one support with students you have been assigned to based on their specific learning difficulties
  • Assist students with organisational skills such as, time management, creating action plans to work towards deadlines
  • Help with their research skills by assisting them to access ranges of resources
  • Provide help with writing skills, how to structure their work
  • Encourage students to build on existing strengths so they are able to develop on their independence
  • Behave in a confidential and professional manner at all time with students
  • Work closely with Randstad and ensure any concerns regarding students are communicated immediately

Requirements:

As this is a specialist role, it is essential that you have a professional membership with one of the following:

  • The Professional Association of Teachers of Students with Specific Learning Difficulties (PATOSS)
  • Full or associate membership
  • British Dyslexia Association (BDA)
  • Full professional membership
  • The Association of Dyslexia Specialists in Higher Education (ADSHE)
  • Professional membership
  • Dyslexia Guild Associate Member (ADG) o Associate Member (ADG FE/HE) o Member (MDG)

  • Organisational skills to be able to manage your workload of multiple students to support
  • Be reliable and punctual at all times when having sessions with students
  • Accurate spelling and grammar skills
  • Understandable and patient when working with students
  • Have an understanding on how to use platforms such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams etc
  • Eager and willing to support students
  • Be empathetic and adaptive understanding how each student is different
