A Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available within the group of Professors Frank Reimann and Fiona Gribble at the Institute of Metabolic Science, focussing on the gut-brain-pancreatic axis and its role in the control of food intake.

The group has a particular interest in developing gut peptide based strategies for treating type 2 diabetes and obesity.

Supported by the Medical Research Council, this post will investigate the neuronal circuitry underlying the central detection of gut hormones and incretin-based drugs.


The role-holder will lead research projects investigating the neuronal circuitry controlling food intake and will work with an enthusiastic group of post docs and PhD students who have overlapping expertise.

Applicants should have a background in studying the gut-brain-pancreatic axis or related metabolic physiology.

Applicants must have (or be close to obtaining) a PhD.

Appointment at Research Associate level is dependent on having a PhD.

Those who have submitted but not yet received their PhD will initially be appointed as a Research Assistant (Grade 5, Point 38 £31,411) moving to Research Associate (Grade 7) upon confirmation of your PhD award.
