There is a well-established JACIE accredited haematopoietic stem cell transplant and cell therapy programme. We have a team of 4 pre-transplant CNS' and 2 post-transplant CNS'. In addition to adult transplants we also care for the teenage and young adult population (ages 18-25 years).

The Royal Marsden's Haemato-oncology Unit is one of the largest in Europe, diagnosing, treating and researching blood cancers in adults and children.

The unit runs over 60 clinical trials at any one time and is one of the largest stem cell transplant units in the UK, offering all forms of transplant in both children and adults, as well as various forms of immunotherapy.

The unit performs HSCT on a wide range of blood cancers including multiple myeloma, acute myeloid leukaemia, myelodysplastic syndrome, acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, myelofibrosis and lymphoma (Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin).

We perform approximately 150 autologous and 70 allogeneic stem cell transplants a year.

Within the allogeneic transplants we perform a high number of transplants using alternative donors including cord blood and haploidentical donors.

In addition, we also perform around 10 autografts per year for germ cell tumours.

We have been treating patients with chimeric antigen receptor T cells since 2019 and have infused more than 60 patients since then.

The Unit is currently involved in multi-centre national and international trials evaluating new therapeutic strategies.

The research activities of the clinical Unit are closely integrated with the Divisions of Clinical Studies and Cancer Therapeutics, The Institute of Cancer Research.

Please refer to the attached job description/person specification for a more thorough breakdown of the role.
