Due to departmental growth, we have an exciting new opportunity for a
Curriculum Team Leader - Alternative Provision to join our Progression to Learning & Work department.

This is a key role in the development and management of the College's curriculum areas.

Curriculum Team Leaders are responsible for all operational matters in the linked areas of curriculum that are assigned to them.

This role will have team leader responsibilities for all alternative provision from age 14 years to 25 years.


Responsibilities include:


  • To be responsible for managing the performance of courses in the curriculum areas, specifically in the areas of student enrolment, retention and achievement targets; quality of teaching and learning; observations, appraisal and staff development; student satisfaction and equality and diversity targets.
  • To ensure appropriate records, registers, staff and student timetables are maintained and available as required by internal management information systems and external audit regimes.
  • To ensure that systems are in place to ensure that effective Initial Advice and Guidance takes place and that all programme MIS data is interrogated to support the achievement of intended outcomes.
  • To be responsible for the overall management of the curriculum team.
  • To undertake teaching at a level agreed with the Curriculum Area Manager.
  • To be responsible for the business development and recruitment in the curriculum areas.
  • To ensure effective management of the curriculums' physical resources.
  • To maintain a safe and secure learning environment by ensuring regular risk assessments are undertaken.
  • To contribute to the collegial culture, mission and strategic objectives and to work with colleagues in other curriculum and service areas across the College.
  • To support the Curriculum Area Manager in the planning, innovation, design and development of curriculum programmes and cross College marketing activities.
  • To promote excellent teaching and effective learning across the curriculum area, and to disseminate and share good practice across the College.
  • To be compliant with college quality assurance processes.
  • To liaise with validating bodies, awarding bodies, exam boards and professional bodies to ensure compliance with curriculum quality requirements.
  • To coordinate and be responsible for the effective administration of assessment, internal and external verification for courses and awards within the curriculum area.

Education & Training

  • A relevant degree or appropriate professional qualification.
  • A relevant teaching qualification or working towards
  • Level 2 Maths or equivalent qualification.
  • Level 2 English or equivalent qualification
  • IAG qualification Level 2 or above is desirable but not essential

Experience

  • Experience of managing curriculum delivery within Further Education
  • Experience of course development and recruitment
  • Experience of student pastoral care and disciplinary procedures
  • Experience of the interpretation of data sets to inform and enable performance management
  • Experience of working with employers and community partners in setting up external courses is desirable but not essential
  • Experience managing people and resources is desirable but not essential
