You should be an experienced in Reward and Policy with a track record of advising on employment law and reward policies.

Experience of delivering projects in large and/or complex organisations combined with an excellent analytical, critical thinking and project management skill set.

Strong presentation and communication skills and an ability to build relationships with senior stakeholders is essential.


We're looking for a talented Reward and Policy Officer to join the reward team to provide specialist knowledge on reward policies, compliance and communications.

Working as part of a small reward team, you will play a key role in the design and delivery of the reward agenda for the force.


Our HR Officer -Reward and Policy will:

  • Supporting the reward strategy priorities and activities, taking into consideration a range of approaches to benefits to create a total reward offering whilst considering risks, equality and diversity issues.
  • To identify and report on risk areas within the job evaluation pay structure to support the attraction, progression and retention of key roles and skills central to the force's success.
  • Analysis of the current police staff pay framework, ensuring the use of initiatives such as market supplements and other reward approaches are appropriate and consistently applied.
  • Undertaking benchmarking across other forces with the aim to modernise terms and conditions and suggesting changes in line with the vision for the force.
  • Supporting the gender pay gap / ethnicity pay gap reporting and subsequent action plans.
  • Supporting the development and management of pensions governance.
  • Requirement to attend any national working groups as appropriate.
  • Departmental SPOC for all people policy development, conducting horizon scans for new and proposed legislation and understanding external trends which impact the organisation.

For part time hours the salary will be calculated on a pro-rata basis, this is based on the number of hours for the vacancy.
