Description

To provide assistance with care, personal support, daily living tasks or activities to the Client within her own home and the wider community to support her to attain her full potential, maximise options available and encourage choice, participation and motivation.

40 hours a week with all meals provided. Accommodation can be provided for a live in carer.

Key responsibilities


  • To support the Client with her physical care, personal hygiene needs and daily life tasks and skills as required by her person-centred plan (PCP), ensuring that her independence is preserved and developed as far as possible and affording appropriate levels of privacy and dignity.
  • To support and facilitate the Client's communication with their relatives, friends, professionals and other members of staff, in order to ensure the continuity of quality and safety in the provision of support.
  • To work within a person-centred approach so as to encourage the Client to maintain maximum independence, taking into account her physical and emotional condition, as well as her current skills, personal choices and aspirations.
  • To be open to the Client's preferences as to how tasks are carried out.
  • To report and record any incidents or events that may have an impact the Client's care, liaising with the immediate supervisor (and/or any other relevant staff) as appropriate.
  • To become familiar with any changes in the Client's condition or situation at the beginning of each shift, as well as any associated changes in the working environment or premises.
  • Where required, to escort and assist the Client both in and around the house, as well as to accompany them to other external events and appointments in the wider community.
  • To support with daily life skills, such as shopping and preparation of food and general housekeeping in accordance with the requirements of the individual.
  • To actively encourage and participate in any programmes (e.g. exercise) identified in the Client's PCP by the relevant therapist.
  • To administer medication as directed by medical advisors and line-manager.
  • To comply with all health and safety policies and procedures.
  • To maintain an awareness of the Client's risk assessments relating to specific support needs, for example, dysphagia, mobility and safety.
  • To be responsible for maintaining and improving own knowledge and skills through experience and training.
  • To undertake any other reasonable duties as requested.
Person specification

Essential requirements

  • To be able to work flexibly within rostered hours.
  • Prior experience of providing personal care would be advantageous.
  • Good interpersonal skills, able to communicate effectively with a wide range of people.
  • To be able to work on own as well as part of a team.
  • To be able to establish and maintain professional working relationships.
  • To be able to work flexibly and creatively with the Client and her family.
  • To be discreet and able to maintain confidentiality.
  • To have good basic levels of reading and writing in English.
  • To be able to maintain accurate records.

Salary:
£10.92 per hour
