Salary details:
Bucks Pay Range 3 ISN 16-20 £24,310 - £26,295 Pro Rata (Actual Salary £12,496 - £13,516)


Contract type:
Permanent (Term Time + 4 Additional Weeks (43 weeks per year) or 52 Weeks would also be considered)


Hours:23 Hours Per Week (flexible to cover afternoons and evenings plus some weekends, school holidays and staff swim training)

Our indoor swimming pool opened in September 2014, the 17 metre pool with 4 lanes is used by pupils at Alfriston School and available for hire by other schools and local groups.

The School also runs a swim school for children after school hours and potentially at the weekends.


Alfriston Pool is a four lane, state of the art deck pool housed in a National RIBA award winning building designed by Duggan-Morris Architects.

The pool plant room is fitted with an automatic dosing system, PAC system and UV disinfection unit that ensures that the water is of the highest quality ensuring the best swimming experience for bathers.

About the role:


Role Summary:

  • To assist the Swimming Pool & Lettings Manager in managing and taking responsibility for the running of the swimming pool and all other school lettings. To assist in setting up and coordinating all lettings, including liaison with all pool users and running of the swim school and lettings.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist with management of pool administration including bookings, timetables, letting agreements, marketing, and finance. This includes ensuring that hirers hold current qualifications, certification and insurance
  • Assist with management of other lettings to include Yoga, Performing Arts, Bootcamps, fitness suite, gymnastics, holiday clubs, dance schools.
  • Opening and closing the pool facilities, including evenings, weekends and school holidays to ensure the facilities are in excellent condition for both school use and lettings.
  • Establish and maintain excellent relationships with customers and to handle any complaints and incidents.
  • Complete pool water quality testing, plant operation.
  • Carry out additional cleaning to ensure that poolside, showers, changing areas and toilets are cleaned regularly.
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of all visitors to the facility and the school.

About you:

Essential Qualifications

  • Level 2 Swimming Teachers
  • RLSS National Pool Lifeguard (NPLQ)
Desirable Qualifications

  • National Pool Management Qualification
  • National Pool Plant Operators Certificate
  • IOSH Managing Safely
  • 3Day First Aid at Work
  • Fitness Qualification
Essential Experience

  • Administration, record keeping and billing
  • Use of ICT, including Microsoft Office software
  • 2/3 years' experience within a similar facility, within leisure facilities, or within a swimming teaching organisation
  • Understanding and knowledge of COSHH
  • Understanding and knowledge of HSG17
  • Understand Plant Operation

  • Timetabling for groups
