Senior/Principal Mechanical Design Engineer - Moving Structures & Systems

Salary DOE + benefits

Remote working available. Site visits required.


Our client is a national contractor who provides EPC (Engineering Procurement Construction) services to the rail infrastructure and engineering sectors (mechanical handling, bulk storage, bridges, marine and ports, highways and transportation, utilities,professional services, and nuclear).

As a result of their continuing success, they are looking to add a talented and highly motivated Mechanical Design Engineer into their Moving Structures team to grow and deliver critical works for the business.


As a Senior/Principal Design Engineer in the moving structures team you will be responsible for preparing complex engineering solutions across a range of sectors including the bridges, moving structures, bulk material handling, energy and nuclear sectors.

This high performing team have a strong background in the structural design of static and moving structures including temporary works.

Bespoke new builds, inspections, upgrades and modifications make up the varied project works undertaken.


If you are a Chartered CEng/IMechE or Qualified Mechanical engineer with some structural design experience, we would like to hear from you.


Key Accountabilities:


  • Preparing design calculations.
  • Preparing design reports and presentations.
  • Preparing concept level through to full detailed designs utilising 3D modelling techniques.
  • Preparing design specifications / designer's risk assessment / ITPs.
  • Checking the outputs of other members of the design team in accordance with internal procedures.
  • Providing technical support to the more junior members of the team and the wider business.
  • Provide a degree of design management, including stakeholder management.
  • Attend site visits to witness new installations or to undertake surveys of existing structures.
