Description

This is a shift based role: shift pattern is 12 hours shifts, 4 days on/4 off with some lates occasionally.


Your role will involve:


  • Proactively monitoring the working practises and standards of Airside Users (Airlines, Handling Agents, Third Party Service Providers, Contractors & Heathrow Colleagues), to ensure that agreed standards are maintained, and to provide recommendations to prevent unsafe practices which may lead to personal injury or damage to assets.
  • Carrying out audits, observations, inspections and proactive safety enforcement activities to improve safety performance on the apron areas at Heathrow.
  • Working in partnership with other Airside teams and Airside Users to deliver the Safety Agenda through Safety Campaigns.
  • Building positive relationships with Team Heathrow colleagues, particularly ground handling service providers, airlines and control authorities.
  • Representing the Airfield Operations at community meetings and project meetings.
  • Supporting a measurable reduction in airfield incident and accidents, through proactive management of Airside Safety and the fostering of an improved Airside Safety culture.
  • Supporting the allocation of both long term and shortterm ramp space, as well as managing changes to ground handling service providers and new airline entrants.

These skills are essential:


  • UK driving licence (Airside training will be provided for successful applicants).
  • Good report writing skills and strong computer skills with a good knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Good practical knowledge and understanding of airside operational practices and procedures.

Ideally, you'll also have:


  • Knowledge of aircraft turnaround operations including a working knowledge of the principles of HSG 209 'Aircraft Turnaround, A guide for airport and aerodrome operators, airlines and service providers on achieving control, cooperation and coordination.
  • A working knowledge of the IATA Airport Handling Manual (AHM).
