We support the government workforce with the right skills and capability.

We are working with leaders to get the right people in the right jobs, with the right skills and continuous learning to excel in their roles.

The Leadership College for Government (LCG) is an important part of the Government People Group.

The LCG equips public and Civil Service leaders with the skills, knowledge, and networks to solve today's most complex problems.

We offer short and long leadership programmes and events, management programmes for civil servants at every grade, and networks between Civil Service and public sector leaders who have potential for the most senior roles.

The LCG is new and a great place to try new things, and this is an exciting time to join the LCG as an Executive Assistant and Business Support Officer to support significant leadership roles within the team.

It is a unique role where you will be working directly with senior leaders and be exposed to many opportunities to develop your skills and knowledge such as business management, HR and finance with the opportunity to be involved in project management and delivery.

Providing trusted support to the senior leaders, you will help to shape and steer the LCG as well as ensuring the smooth running of the whole unit.

This environment will offer insights strategy and decision making, as well as how the unit and wider Civil Service is managed, ideally suiting someone who is keen to progress.

The senior leadership team will support you to develop your interests and give you responsibility for projects.

  • Maintaining the LCG shared Mailbox and responding to stakeholder queries.
  • Delivery support for LCG programmes which may include on the day events support, administration, coordinating supplier queries and delegate communications.
  • Wider GSCU corporate support to collate corporate data and information, ensure finance and people data records are accurately reflected within internal processes, and respond to central commissions on behalf of the Directorate.
  • Supporting internal communication and engagement for the LCG; organising away days, arranging fortnightly Directorate meetings and supporting all staff events.

  • Establishing contacts and maintaining good relationships with a range of stakeholders.
  • Make travel arrangements in accordance with travel policies and public transparency, ensuring cost and time effectiveness.

The duties/responsibilities listed above are examples of the core work in the post as it is at present, and they are not intended to be exhaustive.

The Job holder is expected to accept reasonable alterations and additional tasks of a similar level that may be necessary - the LCG is going through some organisational changes in coming months so there may be opportunities (and expectations) to be involved in grade appropriate work of a similar nature in different ways.
