Trinity Business Support are currently looking for an experienced Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator for our Spennymoor based manufacturing client.


This new and exciting role has become available due to an increase in orders, retained business and growth plans throughout 2024.


As environmental Health & Safety Coordinator you will be responsible to drive and ensure compliance to all Health & Safety and environmental systems through effective management & communication.

To assist all department heads in reducing accidents and maintain no LTA's. To manage the VTS training program.

  • To drive and ensure compliance to all Health & Safety systems through effective management & communication. This includes heading up the 45001:2018 external audit and the 45001:2018 annual internal compliance audit, with follow up.
  • To ensure compliance to all environmental management systems plus to maintain ISO14001 through effective management and communication. This includes heading up the 14001:2014 external audit and the 14001:2014 annual internal compliance audit, with follow up.
  • Liaise with senior management to ensure all plant safety and environmental requirements are being achieved.
  • Support the plant on reporting and dealing with accidents, near misses, safety inspections and LTA's etc.
  • Support all departments by arranging training externally and internally as requested to maintain or improve skills levels.
  • Order and maintain all PPE levels for the plant, to maintain records on what's been issued etc.
  • Complete the plant's monthly energy / waste report on teams and communicate any issues.
  • Arrange all inspections and checks that are identified on the insurance inspection and Health and Safety spread sheet ensuring legal compliance for the site. Including LOLER inspections by Allianz.
  • Control the operations of the LEV equipment on site as per the health and safety and insurance specification and Statutory inspection
  • Ensure weekly Fire alarm tests are carried out, arrange fire drills and maintain procedures.
  • Ensure weekly Sprinkler pump test are carried out.
  • Complete monthly Fire extinguisher inspections & arranging annual inspection of Fire extinguishers.
  • Complete earth bonding reviews and check on pat testing compliance.
  • Complete asbestos checks monthly checking for any changes and report if required.
  • Complete pentane monitoring checks monthly liaise with Quality for calibration.
  • To ensure all paperwork is available as required and nothing shows old information.
  • Ensure safety quick checks are carried out as per schedule, actions are closed out in a timely manner and report findings on the divisional action tracker.
  • Review contractor details prior to work which includes any Risk Assessments, Method Statements (maybe referred to as RAMS), Insurance details and competence of contactor via training certification. Maintain the contractor spreadsheet and arrange Air conditioning services.
  • Report and close out any down time on the fire system / equipment to Insurance Company, local fire brigade and EFP representatives. Liaise with landlords' insurers.
  • Maintain the business continuity plan updating where required.
  • To complete a monthly safety meeting
  • Coordinate with maintenance department and senior regional managers to ensure all checks and follow up work is completed on time.
  • Complete site safety workaround's and report all findings.
  • Carryout safety inductions as requested for all new starters including LOTOTO training where required.
  • Make sure all personnel complete safety training, both general and specific.
  • Complete safe hoist usage training to all new operations (tooling / maintenance) employees and refreshers as per schedule
  • Order and maintain all workwear levels for the plant, to maintain records on what's been issued etc.

Experience Required:


  • Proven experience in a similar role (5/10 years)
  • Excellent time management and organisation skills
  • Computer literate e.g. Excel/Word and PowerPoint

Salary & Benefits:

Starting Salary £31,414

Salary once full trained £36,504

25 days holiday plus all bank holidays
