The Role:


Reporting to the Director Market Access & Policy Affairs for the UK and Ireland, the Associate Market Access Director will play a key role in co-creating, building and shaping Moderna UK's strategy and execution with key stakeholders in the life-science ecosystem in order to deliver on Moderna's short-term and long-term objectives.

The position will focus on ensuring optimal and continued patient access to novel solutions, both preventive vaccines and therapies, from the Moderna's highly innovative mRNA platform.


The Associate Director for Market Access will develop expert knowledge of the products offered by the company and ensure an excellent understanding of customer requirements in the short, medium, and long term.

He/she will work closely with stakeholders building strong relationships at multiple levels within public health bodies and other key organisations within the health care system.

Representing and communicating customer insights back into the business is critical to shape informed strategies.

The role will support implementing the global access and pricing strategies, developing plans and create sustainable solutions, establish Moderna as the partner of choice and deliver value to the UK ecosystem, in alignment with Moderna's corporate and commercial priorities.


Here's What You'll Do:


Develop in-depth knowledge of the healthcare environment, allowing for early identification of trends and requirements for successful access in the UK and support creation of programme-specific evidence generation plans for pipeline assets, both preventive vaccines and therapeutic medicines including for JCVI and UKHSA.


Flag requirements for local evidence generation, such as burden of disease studies, in collaboration with regional/global market access and HEOR team to support country specific access activities.


Drive local in time benefit dossier submission as well as achieving successful reimbursement including JCVI and for future pipeline other HTA bodies such as NICE, SMC, AWMSG and NHS England.

Successfully implement pricing strategies according to global and regional guidance.


Support the pull through and roll out of Moderna's strategic partnership with the UK government for resilience and future pandemic preparedness.

Support development of health economic and outcomes analyses required for access, working in collaboration with internal cross-functional teams in medical affairs and regional/global HEOR

Identify key success factors for each relevant audience and tailor solid value messages and reasoning that overcome barriers

Support customer facing functions with value messages and co-visit stakeholders


Early and constant engagement with payers and institutional stakeholders, advice meetings and related activities including JCVI, UKHSA, NHS, DSIT and other HTA bodies.

Development of outreach and engagement plans for key stakeholders.

Cross-functionally work to develop fully integrated market access strategy roadmap.


Co-develop market access plans as part of the Moderna business plan in coordination with medical and commercial functions in compliance with local laws and regulations.


Here's What You'll Bring To The Table:
University degree, MBA or PhD in science and/or economics or related field is preferred

5+ years in the pharmaceutical Industry, with 2+ years' experience in consulting-type activities with strong commercial experience in market access and public affairs

Be a functional expert on the UK health care system

Demonstrated experience supporting launches of breakthrough and innovative vaccines and/or therapies in UK.

Experience in the vaccines business is a plus

Hands-on experience and successful track record with pricing, reimbursement, and access activities

Experience and proven success working with cross-functional teams

Fluency in both written and oral English is essential.

Ability to see the 'bigger picture' in market access and work across domains

Ability to manage ambiguity and high adaptability to support additional initiatives within the UK affiliate needs.

Strong learning agility
Outstanding communication skills (verbal and written)
