Are you an experienced Veterinary Nurse with experience in managing teams, looking to take the next step in your career? Are you passionate about developing the role of RVNs within an animal welfare focused, charitable setting? If so, we have an exciting role within our Veterinary Department, developing and implementing our strategy in relation to Veterinary Nursing and providing guidance and support to the RSPCA's Veterinary Nurses.
The role will be home-based with extensive travel to our sites; which include animal centres, wildlife centres, hospitals and clinics.
- Overseeing the animal centres in respect of ongoing veterinary nursing provision.
- Working with the veterinary department to support centres and branches in ensuring good practice with regards to storage and stock control of medications.
- Supporting and guiding RSPCA Veterinary Nurses, through the Clinical Managers (Head Nurses) at our hospitals/ clinics and directly at our animal centres on clinical and welfare matters.
- Working with the vets within the veterinary department to ensure that protocols, policies and guidance consider and support the development of the role and responsibility of the veterinary nurse
- Ensuring standards of veterinary nursing care across field operations are appropriate and consistent.
- Working with the veterinary team to develop and promote shelter medicine in our teams and more widely in the profession. Enabling optimal and cost effective veterinary care of companion animals, that protects animal welfare.
- Supporting continuous improvement in the clinical work of the RSPCA
- Supporting the roll out of our welfare assessment tools, the "Animal Voice"

- RCVS Registered Veterinary Nurse (essential)
- Extensive clinical veterinary nursing experience in field of small animal veterinary medicine and surgery
- Experiencing of managing teams of Veterinary Nurses
- Experience of creating and embedding nursing guidelines
- Experience of clinical audit and continuous improvement
- Experience in a charitable setting would be beneficial, but is not essential
- Three year record of CPD in accordance with RCVS requirements
