Description

The role of the Clinical Lead for Quality, Risk & Governance is to support all staff within the Specialties Care Group to deliver safe services for patients and ensure a safe environment for staff, patients and visitors.

The role supports the established risk management processes which underpin a shared learning culture.


The post holder has responsibility for the day-to-day coordination of all governance activity within the Care Group, overseeing all Quality and Risk Groups and gathering evidence of compliance with standards for external inspections such as the CQC.

The role ensures the risk register for the Care Group is up to date as well as monitoring reported incidents, investigation and closure and monitoring the implementation of subsequent action plans.


The post holder has knowledge and an overview of incidents themes, risks, audits, including peer reviews and patient feedback triangulating information at Department, Directorate, Care Group for escalation and action.

The role involves co-ordination of serious incident investigations, providing support and advice to lead investigators and when appropriate acting as lead investigator.
