It never fails to bring a huge sense of fulfilment - as the team at our Northumbria Wheelchair Centre know well.

We are a new team based at the innovation hub at Seaton Deleval in Northumberland.

You will be part of a innovative, motivated and welcoming team which includes Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Therapy Assistants, Administration staff and Drivers.

You will also have the opportunity to work in conjunction with regional rehabilitation Engineers, specialist seating representatives and other Multi-disciplinary Teams.

We are looking for full time ,part time, job share and maternity leave cover. Newly qualified physiotherapists and occupational therapists will be considered as full training will be provided


The post holder will be responsible for managing a complex case load and will need to demonstrate a high level of clinical skills, excellent communications skills, and a commitment to patient centred care.


The post holder will be required to undertake comprehensive assessments of the patient's wheelchair and postural needs, analysing and taking into consideration their personal situation and the effect their illness / disability has on their life and the associated roles.

We welcome applicants who would be happy to be trained in wheelchair provision. Full training will be provided


We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed, in addition to our state-of-the-art Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, the first of its kind in England.

We also care for people in their homes and provide services from facilities in local communities such as health centres.

We give people greater choice and control over their care to help them to live independently at home and avoid hospital admission where appropriate.

To ensure the provision of a comprehensive service within the resource available to the Northumbria Wheelchair Service.


To manage own specialist caseload of clients who often present with complex needs, using advanced clinical reasoning to assess, prescribe, implement and evaluate the equipment provided.


To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust.

This means demonstrating a consistent leadership style which (a) engages, enables and empowers others (b) uses coaching to

promote ownership of learning and quality improvement and (c) facilitates team working and collaboration within teams / departments and across organisational boundaries.
