Are you an experienced qualified People and OD professional who is looking for a new challenge.


Supporting the Deputy People and OD Lead you will work in partnership with the operational managers and their teams, providing operational advice on people and OD matters in line with the needs of the business.


To provide professional People and OD Support and advice to the organisation on a range of people and OD issues, to include but not limited to, attendance/absence management, disciplinary and grievance matters, performance issues, policy interpretation and advice, organisational change, and development, bullying and harassment, employment legislation matters, retention, maternity, paternity and parental leave matters, redeployment, probationary periods, and flexible working.


QE Facilities (QEF) is a wholly owned subsidiary company of Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust (GHNT), based in the North East of England.

We provide a range of non
- clinical services to GHNT and other NHS organisations


Our services include:

estates, facilities services, procurement, medical engineering and devices, endoscopy decontamination and sterile services, transport, out-patient pharmacy, and prevention & management of violence & aggression training (PMVA).


In addition we provide consultancy services, advising clients on all aspects of establishing a subsidiary company within an NHS body to the provision of VAT compliance advice.


QE Facilities work to their own Terms and Conditions and these are not the same as Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust Terms and Conditions.

This is not an Agenda for Change Pay Rate.

We do not hold a sponsorship licence and are unable to offer employment under any sponsorship arrangement.

Communication

  • Required to develop effective working relationships with colleagues throughout the organisation at all levels.
  • Required to regularly communicate highly sensitive and contentious information effectively in writing and verbally with individuals (i.e., during disciplinary investigations or personal sickness meetings).
  • Work in partnership to develop and maintain effective relationships with staff side representatives including actively demonstrating an inclusive and consultative approach when dealing with all staff.
  • Work in partnership with Group colleagues from Resourcing, L&D, Occupational Health and People Information and Data who are assigned to supporting your organisation to ensure a seamless and cohesive customer service.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and development to line managers during all operational conversations/interventions.
Policy & Organisational Development

  • To support the Head of People Services and Deputy People and OD Lead as required with organisational and group level projects and people policies, ensuring that they represent best practice, meet all appropriate employment legislation, drive improvements and effective people practices.
Employee Relations

  • Interpret regulations, standards, employment legislation and case law, providing effective operational advice and guidance.
  • To support all Employee Relations case work and associated panels, providing guidance and support and being responsible for ensuring the process is correctly administered.
  • To promote a culture of partnership working between managers, employees, and staff representatives locally and promote an open and collaborative approach to joint working and problem solving.
  • Under the direction of the Head of People Services, provide support in the management and implementation of organisational change programmes, projects and trustwide initiatives.
  • To support line managers in effectively managing absence in their teams, ensuring that these are conducted in time, and in line with organisational policies and procedures.
  • Ensure excellent people management practices are used to recruit and retain a high calibre of staff through advice to line managers, liaising with the Recruitment team and being the People Services representative on panels as and when required.
  • Have shared responsibility for updating all People Services internal records and systems.
Judgement and analysis

  • Provide advice and support to managers on a wide range of complex or sensitive issues, working within policies and procedures
- making judgements on a case-by-case basis.

  • Provide advice on terms and conditions including QEF and Agenda for Change, seeking advice where necessary.
  • Work with line managers to problem solve and identify solutions to individual employee situations. The post holder will be required to analyse issues and provide advice on how to progress.
  • To analyse sickness absence figures and reasons for absence in specific areas, to identify trends and concerns that can be proactively addressed.
  • To think of, develop and drive new initiatives to reduce levels of absence occurring and improve attendance at work. This will include developing new ways of working, releasing stressors at work, solving staff
