Job Title:
Yard Operative / Materials handler


Reporting to:
Depot Manager


Main purpose of job:

• To process paper and cardboard in the warehouse through unloading, shredding, baling and loading.
• Maintain Shredding Baling and FLT equipment.

Education/Qualification Requirements:

• Basic literacy and numeracy. Pleasant, courteous and helpful personality.
• Oneyear warehouse experience.
• Forklift truck license (desirable).

Key Skills:

• Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
• Good communicator.
• Punctual and reliable.

Key responsibilities:

• To carry out preshift inspections to Warehouse plant and equipment and to maintain as required at specified intervals.
• Load artics of outgoing processed material.
• Load/ unload RR vehicles throughout the shift of processing material.
• To process materials by reel splitting, segregating, preshredding, shredding and baling.
• To establish and maintain specified records.
• Any other task as reasonably required by the Depot Manager.
• Cooperate with the Company in the implementation of all aspects of health, safety and environmental policies and procedures.
• Demonstrate their commitment to health and safety through their own attitude and behaviour and promote health and safety in the way they carry out work activities.
• Report to a Manager or Supervisor unsafe plant, tools and equipment, unsafe practices or methods of work and any other hazards.
• Assist in the maintenance of good housekeeping standards.
• Wear and use the necessary protective clothing and equipment specified in risk assessments, safety method statements and site rules.
• Report any accident or near miss incident to a Manager or Supervisor immediately.
• Ensure compliance with Access Control, Data Protection Policies.
• Ensure compliance with Site Security Access Control.
• Ensure compliance with Operational Security procedure.
• Fork Lift Truck / 360 Grab / Wheeled Shovel Loader Operation (training provided).

Salary:
£28,000 per annum


Hours:
Rotating shift pattern of Monday - Friday 6am - 4.30pm & Monday - Thursday 3pm - Midnight (average 44.25hrs per week)


Holidays: 20 days holiday increasing to 22 days after 2 years and an additional day per year up to a maximum of 25 days.
