Our client a leading player in the energy sector based in Belfast and run on an all-island basis, have a requirement for a Continuous improvement specialist to join their team on a permanent basis.


In this role you will:


  • Evaluate existing processes, workflows, and systems in collaboration with diverse teams to identify areas for improvement. Conduct thorough analyses to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and optimization opportunities.
  • Collect and analyse relevant data to evaluate performance indicators such as cycle time, yield, quality, and cost. Utilize statistical tools and techniques to identify trends, patterns, and root causes of process variations and issues.
  • Propose and implement initiatives, methodologies, and best practices to enhance processes. Work with stakeholders to develop and execute action plans, including process redesign, automation, standardization, and waste reduction.
  • Assist in creating and delivering training programs to enhance employee understanding and adoption of continuous improvement principles and methodologies. Provide guidance and support to team members in implementing improvement projects.
  • Support site management in driving safety and quality improvements.
  • Plan, coordinate, and lead improvement projects to ensure successful execution. Define project objectives, scope, timelines, and resource requirements aligned with the site Improvement plan. Monitor progress, manage risks, and communicate updates to stakeholders.
  • Support organizational change efforts by effectively communicating the benefits, goals, and expected outcomes of improvement initiatives. Facilitate the adoption of new processes and practices, ensuring buyin from team members at all levels.
  • Establish and maintain performance metrics and dashboards to track the effectiveness and impact of improvement initiatives. Regularly report on key performance indicators and present findings to management, providing insights and recommendations for further improvements.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in continuous improvement methodologies. Engage in training programs, workshops, conferences, and professional networks to enhance knowledge and skills.

The Person:


  • Education: Bachelors degree in Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience: Background in operations management, industrial engineering, or related field.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong aptitude for analysing and problemsolving using statistical tools and techniques to collect and analyse data.
  • Continuous Improvement Knowledge: Familiarity with methodologies like Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or Agile. Understanding of process mapping, value stream analysis, and root cause analysis.

Interpersonal Skills:
Excellent ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels.

  • Project Management: Proficiency in planning, organization, and prioritization skills.
  • Data Analysis: Proficient in data analysis tools such as Microsoft Excel, Minitab, or other statistical software.
  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt to evolving industry practices and a continuous learning mindset.
  • Preferred: Previous experience in a production/manufacturing environment.
