We are currently Recruiting for a SHEQ Coordinator to join us at our Ibstock Anstone Factory.

This is a varied role with no two days the same.

From supporting on writing risk assessments; contractor management; participating in audits and inductions to incident investigation - managing SHEQ KPI's such as safety concern and actions close out.


The role requires a good level of engagement with employees at all levels including feeding valuable information into daily and weekly management meetings and spending time on the production lines to understand the process; although some of the role willrequire admin a good portion of the day will be spent hands on.


The role will give plenty of exposure to group functions and involves the implementation of group projects at site level in line with business targets.


Specific responsibilities include:


  • Collaborating with all Business stakeholders to ensure our Safety Health, Environment and Quality Strategy is delivered and we comply with all relevant legislation at all times
  • Ensuring all incidents and noncompliances are accurately recorded on the SHEQ management system. Root cause analysis identification and implementation of corrective actions to facilitate effective incident closure. Ensuring shortterm containment and longtermsolutions are implemented to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Where required act as the primary point of contact for the SHEQ advisor for any site specific matters.
  • To facilitate the site in their respective area to develop risk assessments, SSOP's and completion of any other relevant procedures.
  • Management of the sites tier boards ensuring they are up to date and accurate information is displayed.
  • Communication and training delivered through the use of Tool Box Talks, regular meetings, best practice and safety alerts.
  • Ensure all H&S records are stored, maintained and reviewed in line with Ibstock PLC requirements.
  • Proactively collating and analysing data and using problem solving tools to formulate action plans that will deliver reduced risks of injury and illness to employees and workers
  • Identifying areas of best practice on sites and working closely with the SHE advisors to cascade information throughout the group
  • Providing accurate, timely and technical advice to colleagues in resolving issues in H&S and reducing environmental impact
  • Supporting Factory Management Teams on the formulation of site specific SHEQ action plans and supporting and auditing progress to ensure they are delivered
  • Measuring and reporting improvements to the Safety Health, Environment and Quality Management Systems
  • Facilitating the review of any site specific procedures and assessments in line with group SHEQ requirements
  • Continuous improvement of the site H&S performance demonstrating through accurate measurement and monitoring of specific KPI's
  • Implementing new initiatives introduced by the group H&S department as per the H&S roadmap.
  • Facilitating H&S committees on site in line with the divisional communications matrix with effective roll out and monitoring of minutes and action plans
  • Making arrangements to complete occupational health monitoring (including noise, air contamination and Hand Arm Vibration-HAV) in line with our procedures.
  • Influence safe employee behaviours through audits, inspections, health and safety surveys and behavioural observation
  • Ensure compliance to any environmental permits or licenses issued by enforcing authorities

Qualifications & Experience:

  • NEBOSH General Certificate (desirable, with opportunities to complete qualifications)
  • IEMA Foundation course in Environmental Management (Desired)
  • Membership of IOSH (Desired)
  • Excellent communication skills including the delivery of training packages to an audience
  • Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail
  • Driving license (Essential)
  • Manufacturing experience (Desirable not essential)
  • Proactive

  • An effective collaborator able to influence a wide cross section of people through passion and encouragement to stop and consider safer ways of working

Training & Development


The initial training may take place at our sites around the UK that utilise similar machinery; therefore, you may be required to stay away from home.
