Care Personal Assistant role:

We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated carer to join our team supporting an individual with learning disabilities, autism and epilepsy in his own home and the community.

About the client:

John is a joyful and happy 29 year old man living in his own home in Newnham on Severn.

He is an outgoing individual, who almost always has a big smile on his face and enjoys an active lifestyle including walks around the Forest of dean, swimming, cycling, social gardening and long days out.

While at home, John enjoys to help prepare his food, watch animated films and relax on the sofa.

John is non-verbal but can communicate his preferences with his facial expression, body language and by indicating yes and no.

He is fully ambulant and can do most daily tasks by himself but relies on his carers to prompt him, guide him through his day and to provide some elements of personal care along with providing general companionship and lots of fun.

Responsibilities:

• Provide fun and caring companionship and emotional support.
• Provide personal care and assistance in the home and out and about.
• Facilitate activities and days out.
• Communicate well with team, the individuals family and healthcare professionals to ensure the individual's health, safety and wellbeing.
• Assist with activities of daily living.
• Help with light housekeeping tasks such as laundry and meal preparation.
• Administer medication.
• Respond to medical emergencies in a timely manner. (Full epilepsy training provided).
• Assist with pet maintenance.
• Travel with the individual from time to time as needed.

Salary:
£15.00 per hour
