Family Team Manager and Head of Family Services.


Key relationships:
Intensive Family Support Workers, Family Coordinators, clients, Family Support Service, Childrens Services, School and other key stakeholders.


Havant and East Hants Mind Family Service offers support to help families build resilience to manage their difficult and complex circumstances and maintain a positive, well balanced family life.

We aim to increase confidence, knowledge and skills of all family members.


We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and adaptable individual who is passionate about making a positive and lasting change to families as well as having the knowledge and skills in providing line management duties to the team of Family Coordinators (FC's).

An additional background in either; Education, Housing, substance misuse, domestic abuse and health/mental health, would be an advantage,


This is a rewarding dual aspect role for an experienced Senior Support Worker looking to utilise their line management experience and background within the family team and provide a real contribution in the support of children, young people and their families.

This post is funded by Hampshire County Council Supporting Families Programme.


Case holding responsibilities will include:


  • To hold a reduced caseload of families who require practical and emotional support at a nonintensive level.
  • To act as a lead professional with the responsibility of being the single point of contact to family members and professionals, within a multiagency approach.
  • To work restoratively, building meaningful and trusted relationships with family members.
  • To work with families, breaking down barriers, installing solution focussed strategies and techniques to enable sustained progress.
  • To navigate support by means of signposting to local services and support with initial visits/referrals.
  • To support with the engagement of evidence informed programmes which will provide successful outcomes for families.
  • To utilise therapeutic skills and interventions when working with children and young people.
  • To organise and Chair on Team around the Family (TAF) meetings, supporting families to develop a personalised and achievable family plan.
  • To regularly communicate with other agencies and service providers to share and gather information, ensuring that each family receive the best support possible.
  • Assist families to access additional networks/specialist support, including parenting programmes.
  • To record, review and monitor progress within both internal and external IT systems.
  • To meet safeguarding requirements, being able to identify and report on both child and adult abuse and or neglect.

Additional line management responsibilities will include:

  • To manage the daily activities of staff & volunteers within HEH Mind Family Service.
  • To provide monthly case and personal supervision to relevant team members.
  • Support the Family Team manager in overseeing the continual development of the Family Service.
  • To monitor the qualityofservice delivery and ensure its high standards through regular audit and review.
  • To support in the monitoring of outcomes against the Supporting Families Programme criteria.
  • To ensure staff maximise an identified caseload and get the best result through good assessment and goal setting, homevisiting, reviews and multiagency working.
  • To engage and encourage appropriate referrals to the service.
  • To identify opportunities to provide additional support to service users via good partnership links to other complimentary services and mainstream activities.
  • Liaise with the Family Team Manager to ensure all new projects are adequately resourced and completed accurately on budget and on time.
  • Identify gaps in services and opportunities enabling Havant and East Hants Mind to meet local needs and secure new funding streams.

Key Duties

  • To manage and support the team of Family Coordinators.
  • Support the Family Team Manager with managing sickness absence and performance management where applicable.
  • Provide appropriate individual and group supervision /support for IFSWs and FCs and undertake the key staff management tasks appropriate to your role.
  • Assist the Family Team Manager in developing job specifications, staff recruitment, staff induction programmes, appropriate supervision and support training for new staff and volunteers.
  • Supervise the Charity Log client database & Safety Net recording system and ensure staff are managing workload efficiently and achieving a high standard.
  • Helping to ensure new funding streams are maintained by implementing delivery in practical and costefficient ways.
