The Opportunity
We are excited to be recruiting for a People Partner to join our progressive People function and growing business. This is a permanent position based in Thirsk with a hybrid working model. Offering a salary of up to £60,000 with 15% annual bonus.


Main Objectives

  • Implement the group people plan into the site
  • Identify the top 3 biggest financial impact areas and build a plan to reduce this
  • Get under the skin of our engagement results and drive a action plan to increase engagement levels

IPN is an innovative, well-established and award-winning pet food manufacturer, now employing over 400 people across our 3 UK sites.

Our family of brands include Harringtons, Wagg, Barking Heads & Meowing Heads, AATU and a selection of partner brands that trust us to produce food on their behalf.

Our kitchens in Thirsk and Kinmel produce dry, wet and baked foods which are enjoyed by dogs and cats all over the world.


The Role Purpose


The People Partnerrole is to partner with business leaders and line managers to develop capability and manage talent to enable the achievement of strategic priorities.

Lead the HR added value, transactional, ethical and compliance agenda/activity to ensure the required standards are achieved.


Key Accountabilities

  • Partner with the leadership team to ensure the right development and succession planning is in place to achieve the strategic priorities
  • Provide developmental support, coaching and direction to line managers to ensure colleagues perform to expected results, and that clear guidance is given on approaches to building capability
  • Work with functional leads, enabling line managers to drive accountability at the appropriate level and supports the managers to achieve this
  • Interpret People Policy, support and coach managers in the practical implementation of HR practice and employment legislation to ensure compliance and consistency
  • Provide a professional advisory service that gives effective solutions to people issues ensuring a balance between individual and business needs
  • Lead the recruitment planning and activation of skills needs and utilisation in line with business needs over the short to long term
  • Engage with all relevant trade unions or colleague representatives on matters relating to Terms and Conditions, negotiations and general consultations
  • Provide leadership and direction to the wider People team to ensure that people are engaged, focused and delivering their potential.

Skills, Knowledge, Experience

  • CIPD membership and qualification or time served in HR
  • Proven experience in HR leadership, ideally
    within a multifunctional manufacturing environment:
  • Working with colleague forums
  • Up to date knowledge of employment legislation
  • Proactive, organised and able to work flexibly in order to meet deadlines and have the drive to deliver results
  • Ability to engage and give added value information
  • Experience working with a diverse workforce
  • Experience of leading and developing your own team (either a direct or indirect team).

The Offer



  • Location: Thirsk / Hybrid / Flexible Working
  • Salary: up to £60,000 dependent upon experience
  • Hours:40 hours per week
  • Monday to Friday
  • Bonus:15% of annual salary
  • Enhanced maternity, paternity and parent leave
- £100 fuel bonus per month to assist with the rise in fuel costs

  • Pension:Employee contributions 3% / Employer contribution 8%
