You will work with the Head of Sustainability Engineering, to bring the Global Supply Chain (GSC) Engineering Team, and the wider business, into the future - using data to record, analyse and predict and thus creating an automated data process which forecasts and creates trends and pertinent business insights.

To this will require the investigation, selection, and introduction of new data technologies, such as automated data capture and AI, and effective coordination with the smart manufacturing team (Automation and Tech) to ensure all pertinent environmental reporting requirements are captured and included.

Additionally, you will work with the SAP replacement team, and the ESG Hub to ensure that data is suitable included and ready for any tracking, assurance, and process management.


More broadly, you will coordinate all activities with regards to reporting and data assurance for GSC, leading a team of SME's who delivering reporting and metering projects across the organisation.

You'll proactively engage with Strategy and other parts of the business to understand impacts and direct/advise on the sustainability work of the team accordingly.

You will understand all the GSC plans for sustainability and create the strategic capital plan required to 2030., so you must ensure to design processes which reliably update data and reporting automatically and enable communication of these to senior stakeholders in a way which enables and empowers future technologies, decisions and innovation.

As such, you will be responsible to challenge the rest of the team to look at future technologies and innovation and coordinates effort accordingly.

In this role you will:


  • Support global GSK Engineering and EHS leadership teams with identification of automated data gathering solutions and the subsequent implementation of these.
  • Ensure the fully realised data sets are available for key sustainability topics: carbon, water, waste, and biodiversity.
  • Define innovative technologies and create strategic capital requirements across GSC to achieve our 2030 sustainability ambitions.
  • Take on various forms of leadership, including line management, training leadership, and thought leadership as you build communities of practice across multisite, multifunction teams.
  • Develop and maintain communicative relationships across various stakeholders and teams (e.g., ESG Hub, R&D, Eco-Design, procurement, third party companies etc.) which enable support and sponsorship for programme implementation.
  • Investigate, articulate, and prepare business cases for new technologies which you will subsequently install and implement. This will include partnership with Tech and Automation teams to ensure automated data gathering solutions for environmental data are embedded in smart manufacturing practice.
  • Use data automation to forecast and create trends and business insights.

Basic Qualifications & Skills:


We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Qualified to degree level in an Engineering discipline.
  • Prior experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing site operations, ideally with a multifunctional perspective
  • Significant experience in data analysis and presentation of data led business insights.
  • Experience in creating and overseeing the execution of a innovative programme of multisite site activity, realizing proven benefits including collaboration with senior and practitioner stakeholders both at and above site.
  • Prior experience identifying new technologies and breakthrough opportunities to drive a step change in sustainability.
  • Experience leading multifunctional workshops for training and process development.
  • Experience in project and programme planning, management, and execution specifically as applied to improvement projects.
  • Previous experience working with a diverse population including different countries, cultures, functions, and communication styles.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
