We are looking for a highly motivated
Entomology Intern to join our dynamic start-up team as we build fully automated, smart insect factories to help sustainably feed the world.


Job Summary


As an Entomology Intern and Research Assistant, you will have the opportunity to work closely with our research team in our Sustainable Insect Protein R&D facility.

You will gain hands-on experience in entomology and contribute to groundbreaking research in BSF cultivation and protein production.


Key Responsibilities
Black Soldier Fly Colony Care

  • Assist in the daily care, feeding, and monitoring of BSF colonies.
  • Help maintain optimal environmental conditions for BSF growth and development.
Data Collection and Recording

  • Accurately record and document data related to BSF behaviour, growth, and reproduction.
  • Assist in organising and maintaining research data.
Experimental Support

  • Assist in setting up experiments related to BSF behaviour, nutrition, and reproduction.
  • Ensure adherence to research protocols and safety guidelines.
Sample Processing

  • Participate in the processing of BSF samples for analysis, including specimen preparation for nutritional analysis and other tests.
Laboratory Assistance

  • Take responsibility for the hygiene and good management practice of the laboratories.
  • Assist in inventory management and procurement of laboratory supplies.
Collaboration

  • Collaborate with fellow technicians, entomologists and project leads to achieve research objectives and meet project deadlines.
  • Communicate findings and observations effectively within the research team.
  • Generate and present reports to the technical team
Learning and Development

  • Attend training sessions and workshops to enhance your knowledge and skills in entomology and sustainable protein production.

Key Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in entomology, biology, or a related field.
  • Passion for entomology and sustainable food systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and follow research protocols.
  • Basic knowledge of laboratory equipment and safety procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
