Head of Supply Chain - Combat Systems

Salary:
£71,000 to £80,000+ depending on skills and experience + Executive Benefits Package, including car allowance and bonus***The Head of Supply Chain will play a pivotal role in ensuring the contractual delivery of the Combat Systems equipment into the Type 26 Programme. With expertise in procurement best practices, they will deliver Programme/business objectives through the development and deployment of procurement strategies & plans.


What you'll be doing:


  • You will have overall responsibility for driving performance of both contracts and suppliers to deliver contracts to quality, cost and time requirements through effective leadership and management of people within your Procurement team
  • Taking ownership of key supplier risks, engaging in Supplier Management processes, and leading risk mitigation efforts
  • Providing proactive leadership and service delivery aligned with the Right First Time philosophy
  • Leading and empowering teams to conduct effective cost and value engineering challenges with stakeholders
  • Establishing and nurturing relationships with critical and strategic suppliers
  • Serving as the senior escalation point for dispute resolution and claims management
  • Managing and resolving escalated contractual issues and claims to facilitate successful contract closure
  • Deputise as required for Combat & Complex Systems Director

Your skills and experiences:


  • A strong track record of leadership, managing high performing, professional team and developing talent in an inclusive environment
  • Extensive experience, preferably in defence or engineering and managing end to end Supply Chain and procurement on complex programmes
  • Proven experience of collaboratively working as part of senior multifunctional delivery team, including Engineering and Project Management/Controls Management with experience of projects change and associated implications & negotiations
  • Successfully working & collaborating in a complex programme environment with many senior Customer, Prime Contractor & supplier stakeholders
  • Skilled in implementing value engineering and cost reduction tactics
  • Thorough knowledge of legal frameworks within the defence sector pertaining to contracts and framework agreements
  • Utilisation of quality systems and management processes to ensure excellence
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks governing Supply Chain operations, including Import/Export regulations and ITAR compliance
  • Expertise in Naval Ships Product Domain Knowledge is desirable
  • MCIPS or equivalent qualification

Head of Supply Chain - Combat Systems will engage with key stakeholders to capture, verify and agree ongoing procurement and logistics business requirements and will work closely with the global combat ship organisation and manage wide range high value and large-scale contracts.

Through effective leadership and strategic planning, they will align procurement strategies with program objectives, engaging stakeholders to achieve business goals.

We design, develop, integrate, and provide through-life support to naval combat systems that enable navies to protect nations.

Vital information from ship sensors such as radar and sonar, are captured through our core product, the Combat Management System.

This advanced technological capability allows ships crews to rapidly respond to potentially life-threatening situations.

In using this cutting-edge technology, we are at the forefront of defence system integration.

Our products feature across the Royal Navy's surface fleet aboard Type 23 frigates, Type 45 destroyers, and Queen Elizabeth Class aircraft carriers.

The new Type 26 Global Combat Ships, under construction by BAE Systems in Glasgow, will also use the next generation of our combat systems.
