Our client is a highly successful Financial services business looking for a confident and experienced Catering Assistant for their London office, with experience of working in a Corporate/Office environment.

Office Catering Assistant


The main purpose of an office catering assistant is to support organising, preparing, and serving beverages and food for internal staff members as well as external guests during office meetings, events and daily operations.

And to ensure a seamless operation of our office dining facilities.


Duties:


  • Provide excellent customer service for visitors and office staff.
  • Prepare beverages according to the preference of office staff and guests ensuring quality and consistency.
  • Accommodate special requests or dietary preferences, such as providing alternative milk options, herbal teas, or decaffeinated coffee.
  • Ensure that breakfast and lunch orders for meetings meet set standards in terms of food quality, presentation, and timely delivery.
  • Provide catering support as needed for organizing and managing meetings or office events, including setting up breakfasts/lunches to clearing up meeting spaces.
  • Collaborate with catering vendors to ensure timely delivery and quality of food items while adhering to dietary requirements.
  • Monitor tea, coffee, and sugar inventory daily and place orders to replenish supplies when necessary.
  • Update the list of kitchen inventory quarterly and report to PA if anything is missing.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of all kitchen areas, including cleanliness and proper maintenance of coffee machines, tea kettles, and associated equipment to ensure proper functioning and hygiene standards.
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations regarding food and beverage handling, storage, and cleanliness.
  • Monitor and report to PA on catering expenses.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to improve the beverage service and incorporate innovative ideas.
  • Provide cover for the receptionist as/when needed.

Experience:


  • At least 3+ years of previous in a similar role, preferably in a corporate office or hospitality setting.
  • Experience in supporting events or meetings, demonstrating organizational skills in setting up, serving, and managing catering requirements for varioussized gatherings.
  • Understanding dietary restrictions and preferences to plan suitable food for diverse groups, including those with allergies or specific dietary needs.
  • Knowledge of inventory control and stock management to assist in ordering supplies and maintaining appropriate stock levels.
  • Training or certification in food safety and handling to ensure compliance with health and safety standards is an advantage but not required.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Attention to detail and commitment to upholding cleanliness and hygiene standards.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize in a dynamic environment and manage inventory effectively.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and a friendly, approachable demeanour.
  • Flexibility to accommodate varying employee preferences and dietary needs.
  • Show proactiveness in anticipating and fulfilling catering needs, showing initiative in maintaining a presentable / wellmaintained office appearance and taking initiative in managing supplies.
  • Understanding of Islamic dietary guidelines (Halal) is advantageous but not required.
