Playground Games are looking for a Foliage Artist to join our Fable team.

ABOUT US:

As a first-party Xbox Game Studio, we are passionate about making genre-defining games that are accessible, beautiful, and, most of all, fun.

We are excited to be rebooting the much-loved Fable franchise and are expanding our diverse team to create a new classic in the action RPG genre.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

As a Foliage Artist, you will play a vital role in crafting and refining in-game foliage assets, working within the specified timeframe and budget.

Your skills will help translate 2D concepts into accurate, vibrant 3D models that capture the concept's spirit and technical details.

We're looking for someone who's a good team player, attentive to detail, and can work within an established art style.

Familiarity with the complete game asset creation pipeline and experience with PBR pipeline and real-time engines are crucial for this role.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Create highquality 3D foliage assets, ensuring proper integration while considering technical and gameplay constraints.
  • Analyse, plan, and collect references for the assets while adapting to the project's style.
  • Work with Technical Artists to define and implement procedural rules, bringing our Open World to life.
  • Actively seek feedback from Lead Artist, and Art Director to continuously improve and maintain highquality standards.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

  • A portfolio demonstrating strong artistic abilities, specifically highlighting nature and vegetation assets.
  • Proficiency in SpeedTree, robust 3D software (3D Studio Max, Blender, etc.), and Photoshop.
  • Strong understanding of artistic composition, form, colour theory, light, and detail.
  • Solid knowledge of PBR workflow and shader techniques.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team setting, under deadlines and time constraints.

This opportunity offers the chance to contribute to world-class games with a talented and cooperative team at one of the industry's most exciting first-party game studios.
